vTelemetry PRO 2018

vTelemetry PRO is the world's first software dedicated to real-time telemetry data acquisition and processing for racing simulation. It is compatible with all the latest simulation software and racing games, and includes innovative technologies to close the gap between simulation and real racing. vTelemetry PRO includes a wide range of functionalities designed to help the driver/engineer, providing all the required data and information for the optimization of both the driving style and the car setup/balance depending on the track and weather conditions. This architecture allows multiples configurations to fit two different scenarios: 1) "Local PC" configuration, where both SERVER and CLIENT apps are installed in the same PC; 2) "Remote PC" configuration that requires to install the SERVER app in the simulator's PC and the CLIENT one in an another PC connected to the same LAN. The vTelemetry PRO SERVER app has been designed to run in background and make the bridge between racing simulators/games and the CLIENT app, exchanging data packets using the TCP/IP technology. The vTelemetry PRO CLIENT app is the core application and includes a 'Data Logger' to acquire and visualize real-time telemetry data, a multi-instance analysis tool for multiple lap comparisons with the "overlay" technology and the management of the video capture functionality (OPTIONAL). The vTelemetry PRO data logger is able to acquire up to 67 data channels including the driver's input data, chassis and suspensions data, brakes and tyres data, engine data, 3-axes gforce and a circuit map with live GPS for car's position. The channels data is displayed through eight configurable multi-channel graphs and four embedded instruments for the advanced tyres analysis, the gforce gauge, the driver inputs and the circuit map with the vehicle's position. The data logger also includes full lap timing data including the "Time Delta" display that splits the circuit in one hundred micro-sectors, analysing and comparing time gap in each sector with the reference time or the fastest lap in the session with absolute precision.

vTelemetry PRO is able to acquire a maximum of 67 telemetry channels, each channel contains numeric data related to a different vehicle parameter in a certain moment. Channels data is shown on dual axes graph (X/Y) with shared X axis that can be set in different measure units (distance, time, points). The latter is very important to get a common relation analysing the vehicle behaviour and the driving style in the circuit and/or on a certain sector of it. All the telemetry channels are listed in a dedicated list located at the left of the Data Logger window, where each channel has its own configurable properties such as y-scale values, colour, name, unit and height on graph.

DISPLAYS

Displays

The vTelemetry PRO Data Logger integrates (where available) a series of extra displays and gauges to show some of the telemetry channels with a more detailed view. Extra displays include the Advanced Tyres Monitor, the Gforce gauge, the Driver Input display and the Circuit Map with vehicle GPS.

TIME DELTA

Time Delta

The vTelemetry PRO Data Logger integrates a visual time delta bar, located at the centre below the graphs area. The Time Delta bar splits the circuit in one hundred micro-sectors and shows a coloured rectangle for each micro-sector. The colour of each rectangle indicates a time gain or loss in a specific part of the track. Time gain/loss is calculated comparing the current micro-sector time with the time on the same micro-sector of the session’s fastest lap (if any). If the current micro-sector time is faster than the best lap the micro-sector rectangle is green, otherwise, the micro-sector will be yellow. When a fastest micro-sector time is signed, the colour used is purple. The Time Delta bar is very important to get a quick but precise view of the lap time gap on the track distance progression.

DATA RECORDING/PLAYBACK

Data Recording/Playback

The vTelemetry PRO Data Logger allows both telemetry recording and playback. Telemetry data is recorded at high rate (up to 300Hz, 88.4K samples/sec.) to get the most detailed view even for the smallest details, while the fast graphs rendering (60-240fps) accomplishes a smooth data tracking in real-time. The post-processing data playback allows to replay the telemetry data streaming as it was originally acquired and it is synchronized with the videos recorded using the Video Capture functionality (OPTIONAL).

MARKERS

Markers

The Data Logger includes the 'Marker' functionality, both system and user markers are available and configurable lap by lap. The system markers are added automatically to show important information like the circuit sectors lines, while the user markers can be added manually by the user during data recording or in post-processing to set a note on a certain event in a specific part of the track or to simply highlight a section of telemetry data. Markers are fully configurable since the user can set a variety of options such as custom message, colour, graphical style and position.

LAP COMPARISON

Lap Comparison

The embedded analysis tool allows multiple lap comparison and use the 'overlay' technology to show channels data from different laps to realize deep analysis even on quick views. The lap comparison window operates in multi-instance, allowing different analysis at the same time, and each window is able to overlap and compare up to 5 laps per time. Both graphs and channels aspect are fully configurable as well as the x-axis scroll on each lap's data.

REMOTE ACQUISITION

Remote AcquisitionThe vTelemetry PRO software allows multiples configurations to fit two different scenarios: 1) "Local PC" configuration, where both SERVER and CLIENT apps are installed in the same PC; 2) "Remote PC" configuration that requires to install the SERVER app in the simulator's PC and the CLIENT one in an another PC connected to the same LAN. The vTelemetry PRO SERVER app has been designed to run in background with the minimum power and system resources comsuption and make the bridge between racing simulators/games and the CLIENT app, exchanging data packets using the TCP/IP technology.

DATA IMPORT/EXPORT

Data Import/ExportThe Data Logger is also able to import and export telemetry data, both as single lap or full session, from and to CVS formatted files. This functionality is very important for the data analysis since it allows comparison even between real racing cars data, recorded with third-part software and/or hardware data loggers, and the simulators data in a single common platform.
